CHALLENGE OF THE AMERICAS PREPARES FOR 15TH SEASON

International winter series to reach milestone mark
ORANGE, CA (July 9, 2021) – The 2022 season marks the 15th anniversary of the inaugural year of the premier west coast winter series – the Challenge of the Americas. The international program began in 2008, then under the Rotax Max Challenge banner, which was the engine platform until 2018 when COTA transitioned to the ROK Cup format. Over the last 14 years, the series has welcomed hundreds of karters from the United States, Canada, Mexico and select countries from around the world.

The series began back in 2008 with promoter Andy Seesemann having to overcome several obstacles, including the location for the first event, having to move one month before the scheduled debut. Moran Raceway in Beaumont, California was scheduled to be the location for the inaugural event, however, the facility owners sold the property prior to the race, forcing Seesemann to re-position the race at Willow Springs Raceway. The second Challenge event in Sonoma was plagued by torrential rainstorms that caused the cancellation of Sunday’s races, which would eventually be made up on the Friday of the series finale. That event at the X-Plex in Las Vegas was the last official race at that facility. Continue reading

CRC July 23-25 R3/R4 Pat’s Acres Event Updates and Information

Rounds 3/4 of the California Rok Championship Double Event at Pat’s Acres.Summer 2021 is in full swing Rokkers. Round 2 of the 2021 CRC with our sister series Rok Sonoma was great success, but the one we’ve all been waiting for is just around the corner. Rounds 3 and 4 of CRC 2021 are at the famed Pat’s Acres Racing Complex in Canby, Oregon July 23-25. “For many the Pat’s race is the most anticipated event on the summer calendar for all series,” tells FTK Promotions Andy Seesemann. “Besides being a fantastic way to get out of town for a karting vacation, the track is legendary. Pat’s still hold the record for the largest Sprint Grand National in IKF history, hosted the SKUSA Pro Moto Tour back in the day, and was a definitive stop of the CanAm Rotax Series calendar. We are so happy to be taking CRC and our Rokkers to this event. Bring the family, camp next to the stream and enjoy a weekend at a track surrounded by lush trees. This is truly a “bucket list” kart track that everyone will enjoy.”

Rounds 3 and 4 at Pat’s will closely follow the CotA race weekend format with official practice on Friday followed by Round 3 on Saturday and Round 4 on Sunday. It is a two race double event weekend. Sunoco Supreme/Motul is the spec fuel. Although this is a CRC event, we will supply fuel/oil with entry due to the format. Enter here: https://www.mom-system.com/race/ftk-promotions1622243398/ Pre Registration Deadline is Sunday July 11th at Midnight.

CRC Round 2 June 12-13 at Sonoma Information

Round 2 of the California Rok Championship at Simraceway Performance Karting Center June 12-13 is a co-promoted event with ROK Sonoma – Presented by Sanzaru. Rok Sonoma is handling online registration via their new Kart Pass App. It is available at the Apple App Store and Google Pay. We encourage you to register via the Kart Pass app to avoid the on sight registration line at the track. A priority lane is setup for pre registered drivers. Rok Sonoma and their staff will run this event, from registration and pit parking to race control and technical inspection. For new driver kart number assignments and pit spot/trailer parking please contact steve@cameronkarting.com. CRC will add the Sonoma results to our CRC Championship results using the CRC points structure. All competitors will be scored as CRC entrants, not just the competitors that attended the CRC R1 Buttonwillow event. CRC is a best 4 of 5 championship, therefore racers who did not attend Buttonwillow can use it for a drop.

FTK will be onsite at the event for event support, dealer tire sales and Rok engines and parts sales. All dealers should pre-order practice tires to insure proper supply.

The CRC staff will be back in action for round 3/4 on July 23-25 at Pat’s Acres for our much anticipated double header event at the famed Pacific Northwest facility.

All Sonoma participants must wear a mask and may be required to have their temperature checked prior to picking up wrist bands. Anyone who’s temp is above 100.5 will be denied entry and anyone who is traveling with that person will also be denied entry. If you have any COVID-19 symptoms, PLEASE STAY AT HOME! Schedule Change for 2021 California ROK Championship

Adjustment in events provides best solution for teams and racers

The California ROK Championship is getting underway this weekend (May 7-8) with a two-day event at the Buttonwillow Raceway Park in Buttonwillow, California. ‘ROKkers’ from all over the west coast are enjoying the opening round of the third championship season. The program was scheduled to be a five event, six-round season in 2021, however, series officials have made an adjustment for the end of the year.

The fourth event was scheduled in August with the ROK Sonoma program at Sonoma Raceway. That event has now moved to the September 11-12 date, with the proposed September event at Buttonwillow removed from the schedule, creating a four event, five-round championship this year. Part of the reason for the updated schedule is to support the ROK Fest West event set for September 16-19 at Sonoma Raceway.

“Schedule changes are nothing new for us,” stated FTK Promotions owner Andy Seesemann. “We are always listening to our racers and finding the best solutions for everyone involved. Moving the August date to the September ROK Sonoma date now puts it back-to-back with the ROK Fest West event. Our customer base would prefer that instead of going three weekends in a row, thus abandoning the September date at Buttonwillow. The elimination of this one race weekend helps the west coast ROK community, and should boost the numbers for the two September events.”

The championship will now be updated to a best four of five rounds to be counted toward the final point standings. Title winners in all categories will earn a ticket to the ROK Vegas event, schedule for November 3-7, 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

People have been asking about the 100cc classes for 2021 in the CRC. We allow BOTH the ROK VLR & IAME KA. Weights have changed slightly from CoTa earlier in the year. 100cc Junior remains at 310lbs for either engine, 100cc Senior is ROK VLR 350 lbs / IAME KA 360 lbs and 100cc Masters is ROK VLR 380 lbs / IAME KA-390 lbs. CRC will be running all the ROK GP and Shifter classes same as in Challenge of the Americas competition. “We are holding off for another season on running ROK only classes,” explains series promotor Andy Seesemann. “The popularity of the 100cc classes here in California is on the rise for both engine options and honestly has provided some of the best racing all year. Having both the ROK and IAME opens things up for more competitors, which is better for everyone.”

We encourage you to register online now for Round 1 of the 2021 CRC. Pre entry closing date is May 1. There is a $100 late registration fee for all entries posted after May 1 and in person at the event. Racers are asked to bring their own Sunoco Supreme fuel and Motul oil.
