Gatorz Karting Cup and JBR Motorsports championship prize for Rotax Senior

February 9, 2011 (Orange, Calif.) – The Gatorz Karting Cup is proud to announce the championship prize for its 2011 Rotax Senior champion – a professional test in a Radical SR8 LM prototype race car.

The test will come courtesy of JBR Motorsports, which fields four Radical prototype race cars in the Radical West Series. The Radical SR8 LM produces 460 HP from a 2.7 liter V8 engine and shifts its power through a six-speed paddle-shifted gearbox and can match a Le Mans prototype on lap times at most circuits. At one point, a similar Radical SR8 LM held the lap record at the world famous Nurburgring Nordschleife.

The test will be treated like any professional test, with the team providing full support, data acquisition, new tires, and personnel.  JBR Motorsports brings decades of sports car racing experience, with victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, 12 Hours of Sebring, and 24 Hours of Daytona, and the Monza 1000k.

“I am really excited that, thanks to JBR Motorsports, we will be able to offer such a great prize to our Rotax Senior class champion,” said Andy Seesemann, owner of the Gatorz Karting Cup. “The competition in Senior Rotax is never short on excitement and this will add another element to a very exciting class. The Busby family has been a big supporter of karting for a long time and we are happy to have them involved in our series.”

“The winner of the Gatorz Karting Cup’s Rotax Senior will get a full-fledged professional racing test,” said Jim Steppan, president of JBR Motorsports. “For many drivers competing in the series, this will be the first opportunity for them to evaluate their skills and see how they transfer to a prototype. We can’t wait to get them behind the wheel of our Radical SR8 LM.”

The Gatorz Karting Cup will run as part of the Cal State Karting Series, which will begin its season March 5-6 at the CalSpeed Karting Center in Fontana, California. JBR Motorsports will display their Radical race cars and their entire racing operation at the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas event at the Calspeed Karting Center on February 18-20.
