Gatorz Karting Cup to host season finale at Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix

April 22, 2010 (Orange, Calif.) – The Gatorz Karting Cup, the largest and most prestigious Rotax Max Challenge in the United States, has announced that it will take part in the 2010 Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix, scheduled for October 9-10 in Lancaster, Calif. The series will bring its Minimax, Junior Rotax, Rotax Senior, and Rotax Masters classes to the popular street race, which will now serve as the season finale of the 2010 Gatorz Karting Cup. The SLGP will also be the first time that the Gatorz Karting Cup competes on a temporary circuit.

More than just a kart race, the SLGP is the central piece of a city festival that includes a large car show and cruise, concerts, and vendors set in downtown Lancaster, with thousands of spectators taking part in the weekend’s activities during the mellow October weather. Rotax Senior and Rotax Masters classes were offered at the inaugural race last year.

“I am very excited to have the Gatorz Karting Cup be a part of the Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix,” said Andy Seesemann, owner of the Gatorz Karting Cup – and defending champion of the Rotax Masters class at the SLGP. “I attended and competed in last year’s event, along with several of my customers, and we had a great time so when the opportunity came for the Gatorz Karting Cup to be a part of the weekend, I jumped at the chance.”

“The races put on by the Gatorz Karting Cup are always exciting and will be a real crowd pleaser at the Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix,” said Taylor Jocelyn of the Tri-C Karting Club, which organizes the SLGP. “Our Rotax classes last season were some of the best ones of the weekend. I can’t wait to see four classes of Rotax karts battling on the Streets of Lancaster in October. We are glad to have the Gatorz Cup season concluding at the Street event. The classes will be exciting and aren’t to be missed.”

As a result of the schedule change, the previously scheduled September 18-19 race at Buttonwillow Raceway Park will not be held, and the MicroMax and DD-2 classes will end their season at the August 28-29 race, which will be held at the Calspeed Karting Center.

Both the Gatorz Karting Cup and the SLGP will release information about registration and event scheduling in the coming months.
